What happens when the Randolph Street Market gets some of Chicago's best editors and interior designers together for a good cause? Some guided shopping and fun times!

The September 2011 installment of the Randolph Street Market made way for the first annual Editor's and Designer's Choice for Charity. Editors from premier print and online media scoured the market alongside some of Chicago's finest interior designers to discover the best of what the market had to offer. Editors were given the task to find their favorite items, while designers had to search for the best booth setup. The incentive? Well, for the editors, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their items goes to the charity of their choice. For designers, the selection of best booth setup meant that the chosen vendor would receive free booth rent for an upcoming show. Plus, complimentary 2012 season passes would be given to the designer's charity.

We all know there is a plethora of great finds at the Randolph Street Market!  Editors were given 5 blue ribbons to designate their favorite items, while designers were to only use 4 for their favorite items and save 1 for their favorite booth setup. With clipboards and a limited amount of blue ribbons, it proved to be a somewhat difficult task narrowing down their top picks. A few lively conversations and several Twitpics later, the selections were made and it was obvious that our editors and designers knew exactly what would be the favorites amongst the shoppers.

As the market got underway, we noticed that not only did the blue ribbons serve as  the perfect bullseye on the editor and designer choices, but they also made market-goers stop and take notice of things they may have normally overlooked. Score!

There were some vendors that could've walked away with an award for the most popular choice, with all of the ribbons that were strewn throughout their booth. We may need to consider that for the next go 'round!

Check out some of the Editor's and Designer's Choice for Charity highlights.
