Leopard Print–Always Classic–Ever New
Fashion Trend Impressions from Nena Ivon
The allure of animal prints, especially our spotted friends, has been with us for what seems like forever…actually the trend began in the movies of the 1940’s and has really never stopped. A classic that can be ready-to-wear or all manner of accessories but, please, never head to toe!
Here are some of my favorite finds…
Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, a must see!
Probably 1960’s but to my mind’s eye timeless and gorgeous!
The 1940’s broad shoulder, seen again in the 1980’s and on trend in 2018.
I’m obsessed with these pieces both make sense today and beyond and, of course, love the finish of the gloves. I bet you can find similar looks at Randolph Street Market! I have often added to my glove collection there.
And speaking of Randolph Street Market, I found this jacket of perfection, in so many ways, at the August Market. You never know what you will find, mad for this piece!
From Debbie Harry in another then and now trend, the jumpsuit, to Lady Gaga (who is receiving rave reviews in the fourth version of A Star Is Born) to the omnipresent, Kim Kardashian….all spotted, pun intended, in this perfect of prints.
Men’s looks, for sure, full tilt or accents….why not!
Accessories bags, shoes, iPhone/iPad cases, of course…and yes, a book to be published in October, you can be sure it will go into my fashion book collection!
I promise this isn’t an animal pelt, not my style, it is totally beaded!!!!!
Our exquisite inspiration… much better to live in its natural habitat and survive in all its glory while we celebrates its beauty in print!
A preview of next month’s trend report…since I’ve already featured year round floral prints and now animal prints…can you guess the next featured trend…..a hint, PLAID!!!!
